AMERICAN MUSLIMS ARE SAYING #ENOUGHISENOUGH
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alexandria, VA – Time to Take Back the Narrative! American Muslims Against Terrorism and Extremism (AMATE) are kicking off one of the most progressive, informational social media campaigns spearheaded by a Muslim organization to date. The highly-awaited campaign entitled, #EnoughisEnough is set to launch a few days into the New Year, January 3, 2017, and addresses stereotypes of American Muslims as well as challenges the narrative of extremism that has misrepresented the Islamic faith on the national stage for years.
Muslims that currently reside in America are one of the most ethnically diverse groups in the country. Followers of this Abrahamic faith are comprised of immigrants, refugees, as well as those indigenous to our native land. Masjid Muhammad, the organization leading the #EnoughisEnough campaign efforts, and its nationally associated community, has had zero incidents of violent extremism; making them a viable partner to organizations and institutions looking to combat extremism. AMATE contributors seek to use Masjid Muhammad’s methodology that includes, the Quran, the life example of Muhammad the prophet, and over 40 years of aggressive anti-radicalization techniques and tools, that has created a culture of inclusiveness, to change the conversation in certain communities and to educate the world-over on the fundamental teachings of the faith. A faith that adamantly opposes radicalization and extremism in any form.
In late 2017, Masjid Muhammad was one of seven organizations awarded funds to address the spread of violent extremism by challenging the narrative that promotes extremism. Funds totaling nearly a half million dollars ($450,000) were granted to the organization. A total of 31 proposals from various organizations in multiple communities were selected to receive some part of the $10 million appropriated by Congress last year.
